Trainer Pete Friesen, assistant coach Dave Lewis and I discussed possible vision exercises to work on helping players keep their eyes up and aware of their surroundings peripherally. This includes the use of strobe specs and side vision image recognition while skating.
I'm often asked what is the number one eye injury that I treat. Hands down, it's athletes that are having visual problems secondary to a concussion. This ranges from the 8 year old soccer player that I've helped to the 50 year old weekend warrior tennis player.
